Longgang subvenues of the 5th ICIF rake in RMB1.85b

( Shenzhen Daily 2009-5-19 )

Boosted by the popularity of the three new China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) subvenues, cultural industry companies in Longgang District received orders worth 1.85 billion yuan (US$271 million) during the four-day fair, the district’s cultural industry management office said yesterday.

The biggest winner of the district’s five ICIF subvenues was Bofook Lilang Jewelry Cultural Industry Zone, which raked in almost 1.8 billion yuan in orders during the four days, according to the office.

“Becoming an ICIF subvenue brought tremendous opportunities to Bofook,” said Xue Chuhong, deputy general manager of Bofook. “More than 250,000 buyers visited us during the past four days and a large percentage of them were from overseas.”

Dafen Oil Painting Village auctioned paintings worth about 2 million yuan and received orders worth more than 20 million yuan, which was almost the same as last year.

Drawn by the variety of cultural shows during the fair, a larger number of overseas visitors visited the district’s five subvenues and Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center booths.

Nanling SAC Park, which presented needlework demonstrations of different styles of embroidery, including the famed Su embroidery and Qiang embroidery, attracted hundreds of overseas visitors, organizers said.

Embroiderers were also brought in to demonstrate embroidering using human hair as thread. The traditional Chinese art astounded many overseas visitors, organizers said.

In addition to Dafen village and Sanlian Crystal and Jade Village, Longgang had three new subvenues this year: Bofook, Nanling SAC Park and Shenzhen Longyuan Wonderstone Base. The district plans to build another eight cultural industry parks in the near future.
